Freshers: VP is 'buzzing' for Events

Sean Gater is Langwith's Vice-President for Ents. We took a few minutes from his busy Freshers schedule to catch up on how he's feeling ahead of Fresher's Week 2014.

So Sean, how are you feeling about this year’s Fresher’s Week lineup?

Mate I’m buzzing. We all know that Langwith is chocka with traditions so putting together a week that lives up to all that history was some feat. But we’ve been putting the graft in and I’m honestly buzzing with the result. The hype is real!

What do you think will be the highlight of the week?

Bar Crawl. It’s a tough one because we’ve got so many ridiculously good events but the bar crawl has got to be my personal favourite. It’s the night where it all switched for me: I stopped being a random geezer and started being part of Langwith. It’s a night nobody forgets in a hurry, so yeah, I guess that’s going to be my highlight.

Everyone is talking about this Freshers Formal – how did you pull it off without raising ticket prices?

Well, I’m a special man! Nah, seriously, we sat down in the spring and asked ourselves: ‘how can we make history this Freshers?’. We knew to live up to Langwith’s reputation we would have to do something epic. So I got to work with my boy Jonny (Jonathan Exon, College Officer) and we pulled a sweet deal out of the swag bag. With his backing, we’ve got a groundbreaking event lined up which is giving our new students what they deserve: the classiest, most memorable, freshest Fresher’s week possible.

What tips have you got for our new students to get the most out of the week’s events?

Guys and girls, it’s a mad week. Bonkers. You really do got to be on your A-game all week to get the most out of it, so endurance is the key. Sleep. Eat well. And of course remember my life motto: #YOLO.

Describe Fresher’s Week in three words.

Non. Stop. Hype.

Thanks Sean!

Pleasure is all mine. Gater out.
