Hey all! I’m Hiten, your Langwith LGBT Officer.

 

As Langwith LGBT Officer, I aim to be the face of solidarity and representation for all LGBT+ students in the College, representing your views and concerns to the JCRC, whether they be social or welfare based. Langwith has one of the highest percentages of openly LGBT+ students in its body, which is testament to both the friendly and accepting atmosphere of the college and the welfare provision available. Whatever it may be, don’t be afraid to come voice your concerns to me, because I promise to take each one seriously and, where appropriate, take it further either to the college or YUSU.

 

Many people come to University thinking of making a fresh start, some discover things about themselves and their sexuality during their time at University and others have figured it all out when they get here!

 

Whatever your question or situation please get in touch, as I can provide a broad range of information about LGBT things at York and support services at the University. So whether you have an issue to raise in the Student Association, need to know when the next LGBT event is, how to get sexual health advice (and supplies!) or just a friendly chat I am always happy to help.

 

As LGBT Officer, I represent LGBT students from Langwith at YUSU LGBTQ Network, which works to run campaigns and fight for issues affecting LGBTQ+ students across the whole University. Let me know if there's anything you think should be on the agenda, or even better get in touch with the YUSU LGBTQ Officers at lgbtq@yusu.org and get involved yourself.

 

Don't forget about the Uni LGBTQ Social society, which provides loads of great and varied opportunities for LGBTQ students and their friends to meet each other. We have events usually twice a week, going on bar crawls, trips to Leeds and Manchester and meals amongst other fun, fun things.
