Huge Langwith Victory at YUSU Elections
Langwith is celebrating after its students secured three of five YUSU sabbatical positions.
Former college chair Sam Maguire swept to victory in the Presidential race, defeating incumbent Academic Officer Dan Whitmore in the seventh round.
Maguire, who led the Student Association to become 'Committee of the Year' in 2013, promised to carry on his hard work at the Student's Union.
Meanwhile, former Langwith welfare officer Jemima Busby was elected YUSU Welfare & Community Officer. Jemima helped manage the STYCs during Fresher's Week 2013 and recently set up the 'Good Day Bad Day' mental health campaign.
To make it a hat-trick, Langwith's own Cass Brown was re-elected York Sport President for the second year.
The three will take up office over the summer, taking responsibility for representation of the University's 15,000+ students.
Symone Thompson, Langwith President said 'I'd love to say I'm surprised with our election success, but I'm not! I've got no doubt that our college spirit breeds success, and I know Sam, Jemima and Cass will do a superb job at the Union.'
''They truly were the best people for the job, and I know Langwith is firmly behind them in the year ahead'
